The poses in yoga are called asanas.  Asanas are modified for the needs of the individual student.  Modifications are made to the poses through the use of props and by deconstructing the poses into basic elements.

During class attention is placed on the correct entry and exit points for each posture.  Emphasis is placed on alignment and precision.  Mindfulness and body awareness are practiced.

You will benefit with increased flexibility, balance and strength.  You should also benefit by being calmer and more relaxed.

Breath work (Pranayama) is practiced to develop a steady mind and sound judgment.

Restorative poses are practiced to allow the body to renew and to relieve the effects of chronic stress.

“Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind” (Patanjali, Sutra 1.2).
